Editorial standards
How FinTechPulse chooses sources, checks claims, labels content, and updates or withdraws articles.
Sources
Articles are built from published, citable sources. Primary sources come first, in this order where they apply: the FCA, the PRA and Bank of England, HM Treasury, the Payment Systems Regulator, the CMA, Companies House, the ONS, UK legislation, and official filings; then a company's own announcements; then other reporting.
- Every claim a reasonable reader could dispute is traceable to a listed source.
- Sources, URLs, quotations, filing numbers, and dates are never invented.
- When sources conflict, the conflict is reported rather than resolved silently.
- A fact that cannot be sourced is left out and recorded as an uncertainty.
- FinTechPulse does not currently use anonymous sources.
Each article ends with its source list, showing the publisher, the publication date where known, and the date the source was accessed.
Figures, dates, and jurisdiction
Every figure carries its unit, currency, period, and as-of date. Rates, fees, thresholds, and rules carry an effective date. UK rules are distinguished from EU, US, or other rules, and a non-UK development is labelled.
Risk and advice
A product that can lose money or affect credit is described with its risk. FinTechPulse publishes general editorial information, not personalised financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
Checks before publication
Before an article can be published it is audited against its research and this style guide for:
- factual errors and claims with no source behind them;
- contradictions with the sources or within the article;
- weaker sources used where a primary source was available;
- stale or undated rates, fees, and rules, and missing jurisdiction;
- missing risk context;
- wording lifted from a source rather than written fresh;
- repetition, unclear sentences, grammar, and British spelling;
- whether the article answers what a UK reader came to find out.
An article with a serious finding is revised and audited again. One that still fails, or that raises a compliance question or a genuine conflict between sources, is held for an editor. An article that repeats a story already published is held rather than published.
Labelling
Articles are labelled by topic, and the type of piece (news, analysis, explainer, or guide) determines how it is structured. Published and updated dates are shown on every article.
Commercial content
FinTechPulse does not currently publish sponsored articles, advertorials, or affiliate links, and no one pays for coverage. If that changes, paid content will be labelled clearly on the article and any paid links will carry rel="sponsored".
Updates, corrections, and withdrawal
An article changed after publication shows an Updated date. How material errors are handled is set out in the corrections policy. An article that should not have been published is withdrawn and no longer served.
Automation
How AI systems are used, and where a person is involved, is set out in the AI policy.
